Noise Canceling Headphones

Working remotely from a small sailboat sounds awfully romantic. Most people picture quiet anchorages and being disconnected from distraction, while I crank through my work quickly so that I can enjoy the peace.

That might be true for some, but I live on my tiny sailboat with my two boys. Neither quiet nor peaceful. More like a frat party, or the aftermath thereof.

I’ve been extra grumpy the past week, mostly because my noise-canceling headphones had finally died, and I was left without a backup.

I did have some wired headphones that helped with meetings and for a time in the cafe. But if you’ve never had noise-cancelling headphones, they are magic, they take the edge off, and after having them die on me, I’m once again reminded that for many years, they have kept my children alive.

So if you find yourself working with others who are too noisy, I can’t recommend a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones enough. Heck, after this experience, I purchased two pairs. I got the replacement “Right Ear” for my Apple AirPods Pro and then picked up some Bose QuietComfort headphones. A good combination.

I can’t recommend them enough. They might just save your sanity.
